Who We Are
We are Friends of Frogtown—a group of concerned Yellow Springs residents hailing from a diverse array of educational backgrounds, environmental experiences, and specialized expertise. United by a shared devotion to our Village, our mission is to preserve Frogtown (Glass “Farm”) in its entirety as a permanently protected green space for recreational, educational, and ecological purposes.

Frogtown is far more than an open parcel of land—it is a living, breathing ecosystem. Its wetlands, native plant species, and wildlife habitats provide sanctuary for local fauna, serve as a natural classroom for our children, and offer a peaceful green retreat for our entire community. Once lost to development, this delicate wetland ecosystem cannot be replaced.

Standing up for our natural spaces requires unified action and active engagement across our Village. Our efforts focus on:
Educational Outreach: Creating informative resources, signage, and neighborhood updates to keep our community informed and engaged.
Civic Engagement: Bringing residents together to share knowledge, participate in discussions, and coordinate grassroots advocacy.
Long-Term Stewardship: Pushing for permanent conservation solutions and ongoing environmental care for Glass Farm.

We want to be clear: our group strongly supports affordable housing in Yellow Springs, but we firmly oppose building any homes—affordable or otherwise—on environmentally sensitive land with unstable soil conditions.
Constructing on high-value natural wetlands risks severe foundation damage, basement inundation, and infrastructure breakdown for new homes while driving destructive flooding into neighboring properties.
Other suitable development locations exist throughout the Village, and local leadership must prioritize essential infrastructure improvements first. By establishing a rental registry, managing vacant properties, and creating infill incentives, Yellow Springs can gather crucial data and fully optimize its current housing stock to meet affordability targets before sacrificing irreplaceable natural spaces.

Decisions of this magnitude will impact Yellow Springs for generations to come. We respectfully ask Village leadership to slow down this process and exercise the careful, transparent judgment that residents expect. Development interests should not outweigh current data, thorough environmental reviews, and the expressed voice of the community.
